According to him, attending the congress has created promising links between The Gambia Weightlifting, Power Lifting and Bodybuilding Association and other federations like that of Asia and America among others.
"I spoke with them for assistance in the area of training and equipment and they promised to help. One of our major constraints is lack of modern materials on weightlifting. "95% of the materials we use are locally made and we need further assistance," he noted.
He said he is also working on ways of bringing an expert in Banjul to train members and also to send at least about 6 people for training on weightlifting to expand the sport in the country.
Koteh who just returned from the world congress told Pointsport that Dr Ajan Tamas of Hungary was re-elected president of the world body for the third time.
"We are preparing for the World Cup qualifying round to commence on 3rd May, 2009. We intend to send at least the best among the lifters currently training at the Koteh fitness Gym in Latrikunda."
