An initiative of FIVB president Dr Ary S. Graca, the project is meant for the continent with the sole aim of seeing an African country at the center stage in world volleyball championships.

The African Dream Project” under the supervision of FIVB President Dr Ary Graca is a flagship 4-year programme in Volleyball Development for Africa”.

The Gambia launched the project officially in February 2015 with four centres set up across the country.

The Gambia Volleyball Federation hosted a weekend Mass Volleyball Festival between three of the four centres, namely Banjul, Kanifing and Brikama; only Farafenni missed the event.

The festival was contested in categories from Under-10, Under-12 and Under-14.

The programme attracted more than 200 kids from the three of the four centers.

Speaking at the event the Project Director Bai Dodou Jallow stressed his Federation’s willingness to continue developing the skills of the participants at all centres.

“It is a commendable move and I must say I am impressed with the Gambia Volleyball Federation for the rapid change made in Gambian volleyball and this project is worthwhile,” Bai Dodou Jallow stated.

Jallow added that the Federation is yet to receive the 3rd installment from CAVB. Notwithstanding the Gambian Federation is continuing its work at the centres.

He confirmed that training is still underway at all the centres despite not receiving the 3rd financial support from the Confederation of African Volleyball.
