'It is also important to commend the GFA, the ministry and the government, in particular for the great role they played towards the Darling U-17 team's preparatory efforts ahead of the UK training camp and the World Cup," Youth and Sports Minister told journalists.

He also commended all those who have contributed in one way or the other to the team's preparation, ahead of both the U.K. training camp and the Nigerian championship.

He further challenged other institutions to emulate them.

Sheriff Gomez used the platform to call on the Gambians to redouble their efforts in order to raise the deposit of 3-5 million Dalasi in order to help the team's travel to the World Cup.

The available funds, according to the Minister, is enough for the overseas training camp.
