The Gambia has emerged 3rd in the just ended Beach Volleyball qualification for 2012 Olympics preliminaries in Dakar after registering two defeats and three wins.
Senegal secured 1st place and Cape Verde, being hot on her heels, are 2nd in the competition.
According to Musa Casa Taal, president of the Gambia Volleyball Association, the Gambia was in the first grouping of five countries including Senegal, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau and Mauritania.
“This is a big achievement for The Gambia and this is the first time to reach that level in this competition,” Casa Taal added.
This giant stride has catapulted The Gambia to the second face of the qualifiers, which will be held in Morocco soon.
