GACEM distributes 100 bags of cement to GID

Gacem Limited last Thursday 8th July 2010 presented 100 bags of cement to the Gambia Immigration Department as part of their contributions towards the construction of Omorto Immigration Post in the Western Region.

In presenting the donated items, the General Manager of Gacem Ltd, Mr. Cumhur Aksoy said "the quantity doesn't matter but what it will bring about." Mr. Aksoy underscored the importance of border security, which he noted, has to be prioritised not only by the government but the public.

He went on to say that "there can never be any meaningful development without peace and security. It is therefore the duty of everyone to play his/her part in ensuring that peace and tolerance prevails in the country," he added. He then assured the immigration officials of his fullest support at all times.

In receiving the items, the Personal Assistant to the Director General of Immigration, Chief Superintendent Ebrima Bai Mboob, who deputised for the Director General of Immigration, thanked Gacem Ltd. for the laudable gesture, adding that Gacem have demonstrated their commitment to the maintenance of peace and security.

He noted that the presentation would go a long way towards alleviating some of the constraints that his department faced in the area of border security.

He concluded by assuring the Italcement group General Manager that his department will always safeguard the solid and cordial relations that exist between the two bodies.

Superintendent Lamin Daffeh, Officer Commanding Illegal Migration Unit, also expressed delight at the presentation, saying Gacem has played its role in complementing the efforts of his department in making The Gambia a peaceful and tolerant nation.

He concluded by assuring Gacem that the donated materials would be put to good use.

Cadet Inspector Lamin K. Manneh, the Public Relations Officer and spokesman of the Immigration Department also dilated on the importance of border security, and then emphasised The Gambia's commitments towards regional integration and sub-regional peace.

He therefore thanked Gacem Company for the gesture, adding that the presentation marked another milestone in the relationship between the two bodies.

He therefore called on other business entities, individuals and NGOs to emulate the likes of Gacem Company.
