Francis De Gaulle Njie Memorial Foundation recently donated a collection of valuable science books to the University of The Gambia (UTG), at a ceremony held at its Brikama campus.
In receiving the books on behalf of the UTG, Alhagie Gumbo Ali Touray, the Director of University Relations hailed the foundation for their foresight in giving a helping hand to the science department.
To him, the late Francis De Gaulle Njie was an erudite student, and accomplished academic and professional, whose untimely death had denied them from benefiting from his wealth of experience.
Touray revealed that the UTG would dedicate a corner or a place in its campus in his memory.
"Today we are proud that the foundation is honouring us by donating to the UTG," he added.
Far his part, Mr. Abdourahman Touray from the foundation disclosed that the foundation is dedicated to the promotion of excellence in education and the provision of support services in health care, especially for cancer victims.
According to him, late Francis was popularly known as one of the most brilliant Gambian scientists. He disclosed that the donated books cover diverse areas in computer science and other programming.
