One Abdou Keita was on 3rd May 2010, arraigned before magistrate Nying of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court, charged with attempt to commit a felony.
In her evidence-in-chief, the complainant, Safiatou Touray told the court that she recognised the accused person, and that she could recall on 28th March 2010.
She testified that on the day in question she went to sell only to find the accused locked himself in her house, when she came back.
According to her, the accused tried to escape through the window, but could not open the window, as she looked at him through an opening in the door.
Further testifying, the prosecution witness revealed that the accused later opened the door and ran away.
She said later the accused person's father came to her and went with him to her house.
"In my house we found out that my money kept under the mattresses was stolen, clothes in my suitcase removed and the head of my gas bottle was put into a plastic bag," she stated.
She said she told the accused's father that this was the third time they had stolen from her house.
She told the court that she later reported the matter to the police station, and subsequently the accused was arrested.
The case was then adjourned to 11th May 2010 for continuation.
