An elite FIFA Referees Course is expected to kick off today Wednesday 17th October 2012 at the Paradise Suites Hotel in Kololi.
The five-day training course for Gambian referees is expected to start at 9.30am and is sponsored by world football’s governing body, FIFA, in collaboration with the Gambia Football Association.
The course will be coordinated by FIFA Referees Development Officer Seedy Bekai Magassa, who will be assisted by two other instructors namely, Joseph Lamptey Wellington and MaDemba Mbacke.
The three FIFA course directors will be locally assisted by Adama Mbye and Bai Jobe, who will serve as local instructors while Modou Sowe will serve as fitness instructor and Lamin Camara as local coordinator.
Twenty-six Gambian male and female referees are expected to take part in the course, during which they will be instructed on various areas of refereeing, covering both theory and practice. The course is residential and participants at the end of the five days will receive certificates.
