Female National Team Thrashes Ziguinchor Selection

Then Gambia National Female Team Yesterday morning returned home from Ziguinchor, Casamance, where they took part in an international friendly football game against a selection from Ziguinchor last Sunday.

The first ever Gambia Female team since the establishment of the GFA in 1952 secured a convincing 6-0 thrashing over their opponents in a game played in Ziguinchor on Sunday.

Interior duo of Awa Demba and Sariba Colley each scored a brace to confirm the Female Scorpions's 6-0 win over Ziguinchor selection.

Abuko United's influential player,Veronic Malac, and team-mate both put their names on the score sheet to give the Gambian female team a comfortable 6-0 victory at the expense of a weak Ziguinchor side who were unable to contain the fit Gambian Female side in a hard-fought encounter.

The Gambian side who are using this international friendly as part of the preparation for the forthcomingWest Africa Football Union championship, commonly called (WAFU), are also expected to be involved in another international friendly game before leaving for the championship proper, scheduled to take place in the federal republic of Nigeria between July and August of this year.

The team which started preparation a month ago ahead of the Nigeria Championship have also organised and won series of friendly matches against some Female first division teams locally.
