A total of eight teams are set to battle it out for a place in the forth-coming Bakau Nawetaan, as the committee released the fixtures ahead of what promises to produce some mouth-watering qualifiers today at the Bakau Mini-stadium.
Rakel FC will open their campaign with a game against fellow newcomers B.L.C FC, as they rubbed shoulders in the opening game of the qualifiers at the Bakau Mini-stadium later in the day before
Another unfamiliar name in Bakau football Gun FC will lock horns with Sanchaba FC, as part of Friday's encounter while Oslo United and Backa Yard meets on Saturday morning, the same day the Gambia U-20 team begins their African Orange Championship, as they looked set to host Sierra Leone at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
Matches are expected to continue on Sunday 25th July 2010 to Sunday 1st August 2010, at the dilapidated Bakau Mini-stadium and the play-off to follow from 3rd-6th August 2010.
But the unfortunate part of the whole scenario is that the Bakau Zone will not be taking part in this year's Zonal competition, due to a one-year-suspension imposed on them by the Gambia Football Association (GFA).
Bakau it could be recalled faces suspension after they were accused of being found guilty of causing controversy which marred the Zonal final chaos last year against Serrekunda East.
Some key members of the squad were subsequently fined by the FA for their role in the Zonal final violence which did not go down well with the football authorities in the area, thus calling on the FA to revoke this unpopular decision.
