Bakau Lower Basic, Bakau New Town Lower Basic, Jeshwang Lower Basic, Vital Preparatory Lower Basic, Ndow's Lower Basic, Glory Baptist Lower Basic, Charles Fowlis Lower Basic and Latrikunda Lower Basic Schools are set to take part in a July 22nd football tournament, starting July 14th -19th 2009, at the Sea View football field.
The tournament is said to be in connection with the activities marking the July 22nd anniversary celebrations.
Organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in collaboration with the Banjul Breweries Ltd, the tournament is named Youki Youth Tournament, for both male and female categories.
The purpose of organising this Lower Basic Tournament is to identify young talents within the Greater Banjul areas in order to help them develop and learn new skills.
The 6-day football tournament will also go a long way in fostering understanding among the participating schools.
