Muslims around the country on Sunday 19th August 2012, celebrated another Eid-ul-Fitr through the remembrance of Allah the Almighty. That is a great distinction between the Islamic feats and worldly feats. We praise Allah Almighty for guiding us to Islam and enabling us witness and fast the holy month of Ramadan.
During the holy month of Ramadan, efforts are made to honour the Holy Qur’an by continuously reciting it and striving to live by its commandments. In many mosques, the whole Holy Qur’an is recited from the first to the last Chapter and commentaries are done. In some mosques, the whole of it is recited in Taraweeh (Nawafil) prayers led by Huffaz (people who committed the Holy Qur’an to memory).
Such love that is shown to the Holy Qur’an should continue in the next eleven months. It is the Book that beautifies the morality and spirituality of a person. No one can be a beloved servant of Allah Almighty in all sense without it. The essence of its teaching is peace, security and obedience, therefore, there cannot be peace without it. According to the Holy Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad the Promised Messiah and Imam Mahdi (as), there are 700 commandments in the Holy Qur’an and if a person goes against one of them then he has shut the door of Jannah upon himself. That also means that by acting contrary to the teachings of the Holy Qur’an, no peace would be attained in this world and the hereafter. We must always guard ourselves against violating any of its teachings and commandments.
Our noble and holy master, the Holy Prophet of Islam Hadrat Muhammed Mustafa (saw) lived every moment of his life according to the teachings of the Holy Qur’an. When his wife was asked about his life, she answered that everything about his life was the Holy Qur’an. According to the Holy Prophet Muhammad Mustafa (saw) so long as Muslims hold onto the Holy Qur’an and his practices, they shall never go astray. It should not therefore be thrown, after the month of Ramadan, behind our backs like a thing forgotten. Let us always remain its humble servants.
As per the teachings of the Holy Qur’an, let us also remember our poor and needy brothers and sisters and humbly serve them; that is an obligation on every individual. People in war torn countries should always be prayed for and we should always be promoters of peace.
I am hereby extending to you the salaam, love, prayers and EID MUBARAK of Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih V (ATBA), the Supreme Head of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Mirza Masroor Ahmad. On behalf of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at the Gambia, I humbly wish you all EID MUBARAK.
May Allah Almighty accept all the humble devotions and sacrifices that we have made during the holy month of Ramadan. May He continue protecting and blessing our beloved motherland, the Gambia and her people and shower peace, security, prosperity and stability on us. Ameen.
Wassalam
Yours sincerely
