Serrekunda East zonal team selection on Monday played a 1-all draw against Brufut zonal selection in a friendly encounter played at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium, as part of both sides’ preparations for the upcoming Premier Games-sponsored Super Nawetan.
Matarr Ceesay put the host ahead in the 17th minute of the game after capitalising on Brufut’s defensive error to tap into an empty net.
Two minutes later, Ebrima Bojang missed an opportunity to level the score line for Brufut zonal selection, but there was still time for him to register his name on the score sheet for Brufut as he levelled the score line for them in the 46th minute.
Serrekunda East Ebrima Mansareh had a one-on-one chance to double the lead for his side, but his effort was saved by goalkeeper Ebrima Mballoh in the 40th minute.
Speaking to this reporter shortly after the encounter, both coaches expressed optimism in making an impact in this year’s zonal championship.
