Principal Magistrate A.K. Ceeasy of the Brikama Magistrates' Court recently convicted and sentenced Ensa Njie and Barra Gaye to a fine of D1,000 each in default to serve six months in prison.
The duo convicted for common assault were also ordered to compensate the complainant, one Freeman Nyafuneh, with D3,000.
Delivering the judgment, magistrate Ceesay told the court that the prosecution called two witnesses in support of their case and tendered an exhibit.
He said the defence also testify on their own behalf, called one witness and tendered an exhibit.
Magistrate Ceesay further told the court that after going through the testimonies of both the prosecution and the defence, the court found that the prosecution had proven their case beyond reasonable doubt.
He found the convicts guilty of the offence charged, and sentenced them accordingly.
