Demba Marong win Gunjur Kulukochi Anti-Malaria Marathon race

Demba Marong has been crowned champion of Gunjur Kulukochi Anti-Malaria Marathon race held in Gunjur on Friday.

The theme for the Marathon race was fight against Malaria, the first-ever marathon race featuring three categories such as male 10 kilometer race, 5 kilometer female race and 1.5 kilometer boys under-17 race.

The male 10 Kilometer race kicked off in Kartong through Jujuba and finished at Nandos Restaurant, in which Demba Marong came first, followed by Amadou Bah and Andrew Jassey, who finished second and third respectively.

The female 5 kilometer race started in Madina Salaam through Jujuba and finished at Nandos Restaurant with Shona Saho finishing first.

She was followed by Fatou Sarr and Harry on second and third positions respectively.

The boys Under-17 1.5 kilometer race started at Gunjur Turn Table through Jujuba and finished at Nandos Restaurant. Edrissa Marong came out the winner of the competition (1.5km category).

Demba Marong received D5,000, a certificate and a mosquito net as the winner. Amadou Bah received D3,000, a certificate and a mosquito net, whilst Andrew Jassey received D2,000, a certificate and a mosquito net as well.

Shona Saho received 3,000, a certificate and a mosquito net, Fatou Sarr received D2,000, a certificate and a mosquito net as the runner-up, while Harry Bah received D1,000, a certificate and a mosquito net.
