D250, 000 Bail Bond for Alleged CCT Store Breakers

The Kanifing Magistrates' Court, presided over by Acting Principal Magistrate Sainabou Wadda-Ceesay, yesterday granted bail to three accused persons namely Mamadi Badjie, Alassan manneh and Modou Sanyang in the sum of D250, 000 each with two Gambian sureties one of whom should deposit his title deed with the assistant registrar.

The trio are standing trial on two criminal counts of store breaking and stealing. They all pleaded not guilty to both counts.

According to the particulars of offence, on count one, the accused persons between the year 2007 and 2008 at CCT-Gambia Enterprise Store jointly and unlawfully broke into the store of CCT-Gambia Enterprise.

Count two stated that the three accused persons during the same period and at the same place unlawfully broke and stole several fishing nets valued at D752, 000 being the property of CCT-Gambia Enterprise.

Meanwhile, the case was adjourned to the 23rdFebruary 2009 for hearing. Cadet Inspector Mballow stood in for the Inspector General of Police.
