Councillor Ousman Jatta (alias Rambo) was yesterday convicted and sentenced to a fine of D1,000 in default to serve two months in prison by Magistrate Lamin George of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court.
The verdict followed the convict’s change of plea from ‘not guilty’ to ‘guilty’.
Rambo Jatta, the councillor for Old Bakau Town Ward, and one Basiru Bojang, were earlier arraigned before Magistrate George for affray.
According to the charge sheet, Ousman Jatta and Basiru Bojang on 21st October 2010, at Bakau Cape Point jointly fought in a public place.
In his mitigation plea, Rambo Jatta told the court that he regretted what had happened, and could have controlled his temper.
He stated further that he is the coordinator of 135 orphans, and has five children to take care of.
