Chimo United FC on Saturday emerged as the champions of the inaugural Brikama Youth and Sports Association [BYSA] Champions Cup after a 1-0 win over Real Sira's Suppliers FC in a spectacular encounter played at Brikama Mini Stadium.
The thrilling encounter, which ended 1-0 in favour of Chimo United FC, was characterized by a brilliant display of talent and skill and attracted a large crowd from Brikama and its surrounding areas.
Chimo United FC's lone goal came in the 59th minute of the match through striker Buba Bojang.
Real Sira's Suppliers FC made a respectable attempt to come back in the dying minutes of match and they created a series of goal scoring opportunities but could not engineer a breakthrough before the end of normal time. The game ended 1-0 in favour of Chimo United FC.
As the champions, Chimo United FC were awarded a giant trophy and a cash prize of D3,000, whilst Real Sira's Suppliers FC, received D2,000as the runners-up prize.
Speaking to Pointsports, the head coach of Chimo United FC, Ousman Pascal Jobarteh,hailed his boys for lifting the trophy and said that his side deserved the glory.
He disclosed that his side lost to Real Sira's Suppliers FC in the league final a fortnight back and that this was just revenge for them.
Ebrima Kanteh, the head coach of Real Sira'sSuppliers FC, said he was delighted with the performance of his team despite the loss. He revealed that his team thrashed Chimo United FC 3-0 in the 2008 Brikama League final.
