Case of disobedience to lawful order continues

The trial for alleged disobedience to lawful order involving seven accused persons continued recently at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Abeke.

The accused persons are Assan Sarjo, Modou Lamin Badjie, Amadou Jammeh, Amadou Sarjo, Ebrima Colley and Arness Manjami.

Testifying for the prosecution, Musa Sonko told the court that on 9 March 2011, he and his colleagues went to the restricted land and found the accused persons working.

He said they greeted them and inquired about their names but they did not respond, adding that it was then he told his colleagues to wait for him to go and report the matter to the Giboro Police Station.

At the police station, he explained, he was given two police officers who went with him to the area and asked the accused persons to stop working on the land to go with them to the police station.

The witness testified that he and the accused persons made their statements at the Giboro Police Station, adding that they were later referred to the Brikama Police Station.

The case at that juncture was adjourned till 26 July 2011.
