The 2010-2011 Gambia Football Association division league champions Brikama United beat Brikama zonal team 1-0 in a friendly game played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini-stadium on Sunday.
The warm-up game was part of Brikama United’s preparations for the 2012 CAF African champions league and Brikama Zonal team’s build-up for the annual super nawetan later this year.
Bully Drammeh and Ebou Kanteh could have put Brikama United in the lead in the 35th and 38th minutes of the game when both pairs slashed through Brikama Zonal team’s defence line, but those opportunities were denied by Brikama Zonal team goalkeeper Fadal Nyang.
Brikama Zonal team, on the other hand, had clear goal-scoring opportunity in the 40th minute of the game when striker Ebrima Camara slashed through Brikama United’s defence but his shot was denied by Brikama United’s goalkeeper Ebrima Bojang.
Brikama United opened the scoring though winger Bully Drammeh in the 45th minute of the game from a brilliant strike to give his side the lead, which proved to be the winner for Brikama United.
Substitute Landing Sonko could have levelled the score for Brikama Zonal team in the dying minute of the game when his powerful close range effort was parted away by Brikama United’s goalkeeper Ebrima Bojang, thus the game ended 1-0 in favour of Brikama United.
