Brikama clubs threaten to boycott national matches

League clubs in Brikama have threatened to boycott national league games, if the West Coast Regional Sports Committee failed to lift the suspension imposed on Brikama Youth and Sports Association BYSC executive members.

BYSA executives were suspended by West Coast Regional Sports Committee regarding the upcoming congress.

The news was revealed to journalists during a press conference held at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium on Thursday.

Captain of Brikama United FC, Saidou Jammeh, said Brikama United are currently among title contenders, adding that the suspension of BYSDA executives would really dash their chances of winning the league title.

Jammeh added that fare for the players is a big problem, since the suspension of the BYSA executive members.

Jammeh appealed to the West Coast Regional Sports Committee to lift the suspension imposed on BYSA executives until the end of the season.

Vice-captain of Brikama United FC, Sainey Sambou, said they are not comfortable with the suspension of BYSA executive members, adding that the suspension would dash the team’s chances of clinching the league title.

Sambou urged the West Coast Regional Sports Committee to revoke it decision, and lift the suspension imposed on BYSA executive members for the benefit of football in Brikama.

Saikou Omar Sawo, a player of Brikama United FC, said he is really against West Coast Regional Sports Committee’s decision to suspend BYSA executive members, and called on them to revoke it and lift the suspension until the end of the season.

Kemo Suwareh, a player of Brikama United FC, lamented that football is developing in Brikama rapidly, adding that the suspension of BYSA would really hamper their title hopes, and urged the WCR Sports Committee to lift the suspension.

Alieu Jatta, also a player of Brikama United, expressed dissatisfaction with the decision of the West Coast Regional Sports Committee to suspend BYSA executive members, adding that the suspension would affect Brikama United’s title bid.

Lamin Fatty, Brikama United Volleyball club, said they were shocked when they received the news that BYSA executives were suspended by WCR Sports Committee.

Pa boy Jatta of Brikama United Basketball club also said they are not in for the suspension, and urged WCRSC to revoke its decision.
