Bilbao FC on Friday defeated Ajax FC 4-1 in a well-attended final game played at the Comium Park, opposite Gunjur Car Park to lift Saikouba Touray’s Junior Football Championship title.
Bilbao FC opened the tally through prolific striker Yankuba Janneh AKA Moro Alexis Sanchez in the 3rd minute of the game to give his side the lead before Cherno Touray doubled the lead in the 20th minute of the game to dash Ajax FC’s hopes of coming to their feet.
Ajax responded back for an equalizer and managed to pull back a goal through creative midfielder Masaikou Sarr in the 35th minute of the game, which eventually proved to be a consolation goal for the Sula Kunda-based outfit.
Talisman Lamin B. Bojang AKA Didier Drogba notched in the third goal in the 56th minute of the game from an astonishing finish, before substitute Sulayman Janneh netted the fourth goal in the dying minutes of the game to earn Bilbao the trophy at the expense of Ajax.
As champions, Bilbao went home with a giant trophy and cash prize of D750, whilst Ajax received D700 as runners-up. The championship was organised to promote, nurture, groom and develop young talents in Gunjur and its environs.
