One Alasana Kebbeh, a drug suspect, was Saturday acquitted and discharged by Magistrate Nyima Samateh of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court, for being in possession of prohibited drug.

Delivering her judgement, Magistrate Nyima Samateh told the court the accused, Alasana Kebbeh, was brought before the court and charged with one count of being in possession of prohibited drug.

She said the particulars of the offence stated that on 19 July 2012, at Faji-kunda, he was alleged to have been found in possession of 25kg and 610mg of drug, which he denied.

She said the prosecution called 3 witnesses and tendered 5 exhibits, adding that the accused also testified and called one witness.

She highlighted the evidence as adduced before the court and said the testimony of the prosecution witnesses did not corroborate, as PW1 said the accused ran away but they chased him and apprehended him, while PW3 said they met the accused person and conducted a search on him.

She therefore acquitted and discharged the accused person.
