The Banjul Sports Committee is set for the 4th edition of its annual Eda Carr Pre-season Tournament for national league clubs in Banjul, billed for December 15th - 30th 2009.
The objective of the Africell sponsored two-week tournament, according to Secretary-General, Ebou Faye, is to raise funds for the welfare and upkeep of late Eda's little children, and to also assist the Banjul Gambia Football Association league clubs in their preparation for the 2009/10 seasons.
Real de Banjul, GPA, Wallidan, Hawks, Armed Forces, Gamtel, Young Africans, Interior and Banjul are expected to take part in the pre-season tournament, ahead of the Gambia Football Association first and second division leagues to start soon.
Eda was a no-nonsense and formidable defender for Starlight FC. during his football days. He was a loyal and dedicated player, who played for Starlight for 20 years.
He also represented the country with the senior national level with distinction.
Eda could be easily described as a staunch defender and did form a great partnership with Lamin Owens during the 1980 Zone II Tournament in The Gambia.
