Bakau Newton giants Luniburg have become the latest club to book a place into the last 16 of the current Bakau Naweetan.

They beat Saul Samba 2-1 to confirm their place into the next stage of the competition as the first round of the ongoing Bakau Nawetan nears its climax with only a game remaining between Vidar and Milan, which was in session at the time of going to the press yesterday evening.

A winner in that tie will join current group C table toppers Zuwa FC, who are already through to the second stage of the 24-team campaign following their impressive 3-1 thumping of helpless Kairaba FC on Monday.

Goals from playmaker Ousman Njie and another from Saikou B. Camara was all Luniburg needed to ease to a decisive victory at the expense of neighbours Saul Samba who are all but out of the competition after failing to impress after five group matches played en route to their disappointing elimination on Wednesday at Real de Banjul Football field at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

The Luniburg team under the guidance of Omar Bah, aka Lille, progressed to the last 16 together with fellow group leaders Magadan, who are both equal on points, goal difference and goals scored.

In cases like this, the decision is made on the number of cards conceded and if that is the case, Luniburg are the group leaders because they conceded lesser number of cards than Magadan.
