The Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit of Brikama Area Council on 7 May 2011 spearheaded series of cleansing exercises in the communities of Brikama (Kombo Central), Nema Kunku and Lamin (all in Kombo North).
The unit, tasked to ensure a clean and a health environment in the West Coast Region, has been spearheading regional efforts to respond to monthly cleansing exercise as pronounced by the National Environmental Agency.
Speaking at the exercise, Modou Jonga, public relations officer of BAC, underscored the essence of having a clean environment and urged the public to respond to monthly cleansing exercises.
Mr Jonga expressed gratitude to the National Environmental Agency (NEA), Brikama Tipper Garage, Executive Committee of Gambia National Transport Control Association (Brikama Branch),Gambia Food, Agricultural & Transport Union (Brikama Branch) and Individuals, notably Mr Buba Jarju, Mr Ensa Mendy (Proprietor of Brikama Jokor Night Club), Mr Ansumana Kolley and “Jiesumeeh” Women Group(adopted daughters of BAC Chairman Sunkary Badjie) among others, for their consistent support during monthly exercises to the council.
He urged other stakeholders in the region to join the exercise as it’s a national duty.
