Armed Forces register 1st victory

The Gambia Armed Forces defeated Real De Banjul by a goal to nil in Saturday's Week Four matches of the Gambia Football Association (GFA) First Division league at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium.

Both teams showed wonderful talents in the opening minutes of the game, but striker Ousman Touray had the best opportunity in the 39th minute to open the score line for Real De Banjul but was cleared by goalkeeper Ebrima Saidykhan.

Armed Forces who were much stronger and determined for a victory open the score line through striker Kaba Jobe in the 82nd minute from a sensible header after capitalising on skipper Joseph Jabang's brilliant cross from the far right of the field.

Armed Forces now collected 6 points from 4 games, while Real De Banjul collected 2 points from 4 encounters.

Speaking to the Head Coach of Armed Forces, Alagie Sey, shortly after the game told Pointsport that he respected Real De Banjul because they are a very good team.

Head Coach Sey also added that he and his technical team have really worked hard on their defense line during their training ground.

He finally urged the fans of Armed Forces to rally behind the team so that they can lift the Gambian flag to higher heights.

Pa Samba Mbenga, the Head Coach of Real De Banjul said that the game was well contested, despite his side loosing by a lone goal.

He said that his team was the better side in the first period of the game, but failed to capitalise on their scoring opportunities.

"We will go back to the training ground to rectify our mistakes before their next game," Head Coach Mbenga promised.
