Mr. Yuspha Sanyang, the Deputy Mayor of Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) has vowed that come 2011 presidential elections, the ruling APRC party will sweep the polls.

According to him, victory for the ruling party is a foregone conclusion, thanks to its popularity.

The party's growing popularity, Deputy Mayor Sanyang stated, is visibly based on the fact that it has registered tremendous developments, ranging from infrastructural developments since 1994 to date.

Sanyang, who was speaking in an exclusive interview with our reporter yesterday, said the number of projects implemented by the APRC party clearly manifest that the party is a force to be reckoned with.

Quizzed about what the recent defection of Pa Sainey Jallow means to both the APRC and the opposition, Deputy Mayor remarked that "we are not equal in weight. So the fact that Pa Sainey has been a candidate who has contested for elections and at least was able to receive some votes, would no doubt add or improve the popularity of APRC."

According to Deputy Mayor Sanyang, most of the supporters of Pa Sainey Jallow that have voted for him during those elections are also likely to join him in the bandwagon, which he noted would boost-up the party's support base.

"The relevance of whether Pa Sainey is UDP, NADD, or independent is not the case. The fact that he is an opposition indicates a lot for the popularity of the APRC party," he concluded.
