Two Former Custom Officers Reinstated

Reliable information reaching this paper has stated that two former employees of the Custom Department, who were dismissed alongside four others in June 2009, have been recently reinstated.

The two former employees: Bakary Sanyang, the Commissioner for Domestic Taxes and Baboucarr Loum, former Senior Border Custom Post Officer for URR, now deployed at Jerquin Department.

When contacted on the issue, the Commission General of Custom Services, Alhagie Kaba Tambajang confirmed that Mr. Sanyang and Loum are reinstated.

On the fate of the other four dismissed officers, Commissioner Tambajang said he has no idea about those officers, adding that the two officers who are just being re-instated are the ones he knows.

The four others who are yet to be reinstated are: Edrissa Touray, former Senior Border Custom Post Officer for Farafenni, Modou Lamin Marenah, Custom Airport Manager at the Gambia International Airport, Alhagie Momar Penda Gaye, Senior Border Custom Post Officer for Amdalaye and Baba Trawalley Commissioner of Custom.
