His Excellency the President Sheikh Professor Alhagie Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh Babili Mansa National Chairman and party leader acting under powers conferred on him by the APRC Constitution has with immediate effect dissolved all APRC Structures in the Lower Saloum Constituency, according to statement from the Office of the President.
In addition, the statement said, the APRC bureau in Kaur “stands closed until further notice”.
It would be recalled that the opposition National Reconciliation Party (NRP) won by a landslide the Lower Saloum by-election conducted on 6 August 2015.
Whilst the ruling APRC party’s candidate Kaba Touray scored 1618 votes, the NRP candidate Modou Bamba Gaye polled 2764 votes, defeating his opponent by 1146 votes.
The total votes cast in the by-election was 4,382, with no invalid votes reported.
