Annex have been crowned champions of the KMC Mayor Trophy Tournament following their 4-2 post-match penalty shootout win over Licensing/Debt after a goalless draw in regulation time at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium. Played at the weekend, the final saw both sides putting up spectacular performances as they were piling pressure on each other’s defence line, but the 90-minute opportunity ended without a goal to get a winner. The match therefore got into a penalty shootout which ended 4-2 in favour of Annex. As the champions, Annex went home with a giant trophy and a cash prize of D5,000, whilst Licensing/Debt received D3,000 as runners-up. The tournament was organised by the KMC in memory of the late Alhagie Badou Jasseh, former chairman of the Gambia Football Referees Committee, who passed away last month after a brief illness.
