A theft case involving one Omar Daffeh continued recently at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court with the testimony of the first prosecution witness.

Sulayman Jammeh testified, telling the court that he is a detective police officer, who recognised the accused person.

CPL Jammeh said on 10 March 2012 the accused was brought to Sanyang Police Station with a complainant of theft, adding that the accused was interrogated and he confessed to stealing a motor engine.

“The accused told me that he sold the motor engine to one Abdourahman Keita for an amount of D850, where he led us to,” he explained.

“We found Abdourahman at his shop and he admitted buying the said motor engine from the accused,” CPL Jammeh added.

The said motor engine was later admitted and tendered as exhibit.

PW1 said cautionary and voluntary statements were obtained from the accused person in the presence of an independent witness.

The case continues on 23 April 2012.
