Alleged Gacem Thieves Granted Bail

Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbackeh of the Banjul Magistrates' Court recently granted bail to two men who are alleged to have stolen from GACEM. 

Both Ebrima Ndow and Katim Ceesay were arraigned on a dual charge of stealing and conspiracy to commit a felony.

The particulars of the offence on count one stated that the accused persons on 9thJune, 2008 at Gacem in the Kanifing Municipality of the Republic of the Gambia, conspired to steal 150 bags of cement valued at D36, 750 being the property of one Oumie Marena.

They pleaded not guilty on both counts and were granted court bail on the deposition of D36, 800 each, or the provision of two Gambian sureties each and one of them must be in possession of a landed property of that value.

The title deed should be deposited with the Assistant Registrar.

The case was then adjourned for hearing.
