AGIB Bank Cashier Arraigned for Stealing

A cashier at the Arab Gambia Islamic Bank (AGIB) was yesterday arraigned at the Bundung Magistrates' Court for allegedly stealing at the Bank.

Fatou Jassey-Colley has been charged with stealing D804, 694.25 from the account of the National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC).

According to the charge sheet between the months of May and October 2008 Mrs. Jassey-Colley allegedly stole the said sum being money she received to put into the NAWEC account with AGIB.

She however denied the charge.

Meanwhile Mrs Jassey-Colley is being granted a court bail in the sum of D1, 000.000 (one million Dalasis) with a Gambian surety who will submit his or her title deed to the court.

The case was adjourned until the 6thJanuary 2009 for the prosecution to open its case.
