Africell FC has booked a place in the country's top-flight football, despite having a game remaining in the league fixtures.
Africell FC made it to the First Division after defeating Latrikunda United by a goal to nil in the Week Seventeen encounter of the Gambia Football Association (GFA) Second Division League at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium on Saturday 5th June 2010.
Skipper Yankuba Jammeh scored the only goal of the game for Africell FC in the 78th minute from a penalty spot when defender Omar Gibba brought down substituted striker Ebrima Sanneh inside Latrikunda United?s eighteen yard box.
Lamin M. Touray and Muhammed Conteh, both had clear chances to increase the score line for Africell FC, but failed to capitalise on their opportunities.
Alieu Danso, Saidou Badjie and Buba Jammeh all had chances to register their names on the score sheet for Latrikunda United, but could not break the deadlock for Latrikunda United. Africell FC now collected 32 points from seventeen games, while Latrikunda United collected 19 points from seventeen league games.
On the same day, at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium, Young Africans defeated Serrekunda East by 4-1.
Young Africans now collects 26 points, while Serrekunda East are at 21 points.
