Actions set to resume in GFF domestic league after Christmas, New Year break

Actions are set to resume in the 2015-2016 First-Eco partners-sponsored Gambia Football Federation division one league season this weekend after observing Christmas and New Year break.

Current league leaders Gambia Ports Authority will play away to Brikama United on Sunday 10 January 2016, at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium.

The ferry boys are currently topping the country’s premier tier with 8 points in four league matches and are also unbeaten since the start of the league in November, and will be expecting to beat Brikama United to revive their lead.

Brikama United are also among the league title contenders with 6 points in four league matches and are also unbeaten since the start of the league in November.  They will be fighting to beat Gambia Ports Authority to top the league and also keep their league ambitions alive.

Gambia Armed Forces will clash with recent league champions Gamtel at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.

The Soldiers are also among the teams competing for the league title after grabbing 6 points in four league matches. They are also beaten in the league, and will be steering to defeat telecommunication giants to close the gap and maintain their title hopes alive.

The telecommunication giants are occupying second spot in the league with 7 points in four matches a single point behind runaway league leaders Gambia Ports Authority, who have bagged 8 points in four league matches.

They will also be challenging to beat the Soldiers to keep their hopes of retaining their 2014-2015 division one league crown.

Elsewhere, Banjul United will rub shoulder with Real De Banjul in the all-Banjul derby clash at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium on the same day.

The City giants are mid-table with 5 points in four league matches, and will be fighting to beat City boys Real De Banjul to close the gap.

The city boys Real De Banjul are currently struggling in the premier tier with only 3 points in four league matches and are bracing up to thrash city giants Banjul United to move away from the red zone and also keep their title hopes alive.

On Saturday 9 January 2016, Serrekunda United will play against Wallidan at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium.

The Serrekunda-based outfit are languishing at the bottom with a single point in four league matches, and will make all efforts to beat the blue boys to move away from the relegation zone.

The blue boys are among the teams vying for the league title after grabbing 6 points in four league matches.

They are preparing to recover against the Serrekunda-based outfit to stand in contention for the league title.

Steve Biko will meet Samger at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium. The Bakau giant killers are mid-table with 5 points in four league matches, and will be approaching to beat the Academy boys to improve their position in the league.

The Academy boys are among the league title contenders with 6 points in four matches. They are preparing to defeat Bakau giant killers to increase their chances of staying the top flight next season and avoid relegation to the second tier.

Elsewhere, Bombada will host Hawks at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium on the same day.

The Sateyba boys and Red Devils are struggling in the premier tier with 3 points each in four league matches.

They are itching to beat each other to avoid relegation to the second tier to stay in the premier tier for another season.
