Barely ten days before the start of the qualifying round of the African Nations Cup finals in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea in 2012, the Gambia Football Association, GFA, has disclosed that they have sent an invitation to 22 foreign-based players who are expected in Banjul between 29th and 30th August 2010, five days before Namibia clash at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on September 4th.
The Senior Scorpions under the guidance of the Belgian tactician, Paul Put who has failed in his attempt to engage the team in a friendly international match since their 5-1 demolition in the hands of South American side Mexico, will enter Namibia clash knowing that a win will go a long way towards determining their fate following the withdrawal of fellow group mate Mauritania.
The Gambia is pitted in Group F along with Burkina Faso, Namibia and Mauritania, who withdrew from the qualifiers, as a result of financial incapability a few days before the commencement of the qualifying campaign.
The ticket prize for the cracker is pegged at D500 for VIP, D100 and D50.00 for covered and uncovered pavilions, respectively.
