The
third term of 2016 legal year formally comes to an end today as judges,
registrars and staff of the superior courts in The Gambia would proceed for
their Christmas vacation.
According
to judicial sources, notices were sent to all judges of the superior courts
across the country, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, public and
private legal practitioners, registrars and staff of the superior courts.
The
notice disclosed that in pursuant to order 4 rules 1 and 3 of the Courts Act
cap 6:01, Volume 2, Revised Laws of The Gambia 2009, the third term of the 2016
legal year would formally end today, Thursday 22 December 2016.
The
notice also disclosed that the Christmas vacation shall commence tomorrow 23
December 2016 and terminate on Saturday 7 January 2017.
The
first term of the 2017 legal year will commence on Sunday 8 January 2017 and
the courts will formally open on Monday 9 January 2017.
