2 in court for alleged burglary and theft

Modou Lamin Ndow and Modou Bah were recently arraigned at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, charged with two counts of house-breaking and stealing.

The charge sheet on count one stated that on 29 October 2012, at Bakau NewTown in the Kanifing Municipality, the accused persons, Modou Lamin Ndow and Modou Bah, broke into the house of one Babucarr Ceeasy with intent to commit a felony, to steal.

Count two read that they stole the following: physical cash of $2,300 and of D23,500, an Apple I-pod valued at 240 Euros, an LG mobile phone valued at D1,750, a Nokia double SIM phone valued at D2,200 and DVD player valued at D1,750, all being the property of Babucarr Ceesay.

Meanwhile, the 1st accused person was granted court bail of D250,000 with two Gambian sureties who must swear to an affidavit of means and deposit their ID cards, while the 2nd accused was refused bail.

The case was adjourned till 13 November 2012.
