12 NRP supporters to appear in court today

Twelve supporters of the opposition National Reconciliation Party (NRP) who were arrested and charged with inciting violence and going armed in public are due to appear before a magistrate court in Bansang today, The Point has been reliably informed.

Among those to face trial are Dullo Bah, campaign manager of the NRP, Musa Bah, Pa Coma, Alieu Njie, Demba Bah, who all face charges of inciting violence.

Also facing trial are Sheikh Sowe, Musa Ceesay, Sam Bah, Samba I Bah and Alagie Bah, all of whom are also charged with going armed in public, The Point has learned.

The accused persons were arrested shortly after 29th March parliamentary election in which the ruling Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) swept the polls with a landslide victory.

Meanwhile, media reports also have it that sixty people including men and women believed to be NRP supporters were arrested by the police at Farafenni on Saturday 31st March 2012.

They were reportedly picked up at Sabach Njaien village in the Sabach Sanjal District of the North Bank Region, and have also appeared before Magistrate Martin of the Farafenni Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 3rd April 2012.
