In the Psalms, the psalmist paints a picture of feeling secure under God's wings, as a safe haven. "For You have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe." (Ps. 61:3)
Yet another states, "Hide me in the shadow of your wings from the wicked who assail me, from my mortal enemies who surround me." (Ps. 17:8-9)
But Jesus laments over the fact that He wanted to gather Israel under His wings "as a hen gathers her chicks" (Lk.13-34) but they rejected Him.
What place is more secure than under the wings of an Almighty God? King David knew this and he takes it a step further. He recommends to stay put. "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High shall abide(rest) under the shadow of the Almighty."
(Ps.91:1) Then he can boldly proclaim, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust." (Ps. 91:1-2)
Taking shelter under God's wings or arms guarantees; "He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge." (Ps. 91:4)
We get full insurance cover and find maximum safety only in God's shelter and presence.
Seek Him while He may be found. "For You, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you." (Ps. 9:10)
