"For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8:38-39)
Apostle Paul displays such confidence because he has been an object of God's mercy. His deeds, prior to his conversion, would not have qualified him - but for God's grace and mercy. From a human point of view, this could not have been possible. But God's love does not discriminate. It is His nature to love even His former enemies who repent.
Apostle Paul speaks with conviction that nothing could separate him and us from God's love in spite of our past wrongdoings. God forgives and forgets.
To benefit from such grace, there are a lot of 'baggages' we may have to part company with or turn our backs on. Everything in our lifestyles that do not honour God must be laid down on the altar.
God does not require us to put our lives on the line as a condition, but in loving Him to be aware of the price He paid to win us over. In giving up His Son - He gave His all.
Let us go through this day CONSCIOUS of what God has done on our behalf. The way of the devil is the way to eternal damnation.
When God sacrificed His Only Son on the cross at Calvary, He opened His arms to the world "that all who received Him, to those who believe in His name, He gave the right to become Children of God - not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but of God." (John 1:12)
God wants none of us lost but that all should "come to the knowledge of the truth, (1Timothy 2:4) to proclaim: "Nothing can separate us....from His love." Amen!
