In an effort to build the capacity of artists in the area of dancing, singing, models or script writing, Flex Fusion Entertainment in collaboration with The Gambia Union of Theater (GAMUT) is set to organize a week-long training for artistes in the area of entrepreneurship and performing arts.
The fund which is a grant from the French Institute through Alliance Francise aims to build the capacity of those in the artistic sector.
Ndey Fatou Jabang, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Founder of Flex Fusion Entertainment Academy who doubles as the President of the Dancers Association of The Gambia said the training is part of efforts to build the capacity of artists.
Ms. Jabang explained that the training is targeting young people into creative space, music, dance theater, models, script writing, business entrepreneurship and performing arts between the ages of 18 to 35.
“We are targeting 75 young people,” she said adding that, most of those into creative in The Gambia do not understand the business aspect of entrepreneurship and for this reason, Flex Fusion is trying to structure the industry by first building their capacities which is key in every profession.
Melton Kamanda, President of the Theater Association who also doubles as Vice President of GAMUT encouraged young Gambian artistes to be involved in the association’s activities.
