The 14th Edition of NAYCONF in 2024 with theme "Enhancing Youth Participation in the Attainment of the Recovery Focus and National Development Plan 2023-2027" continues legacy, incorporating innovative strategies to address evolving challenges.
The adopted resolutions centred around eight core thematic areas such as migration management, peace, security, justice,
creative industry, ICT, innovation, gender, education, employment, entrepreneurship, climate change, leadership and political participation.
These resolutions reflect the collective experiences of youth, input from the national stakeholders and a dedication to sustainable development in line with national policies, international frameworks, and the aspirations of young Gambians.
The National Youth Conference and Festival (NAYCONF) 2024 proudly celebrated the brilliance of youth leadership and intellectual excellence by crowning Muhammed Bah of Kanifing Municipality as the Best Debater of the year.
Muhammed captivated the audience and judges with his eloquence, critical thinking, and mastery of topical issues, embodying the spirit of innovation and intellectual vigour that NAYCONF champions.
Representing Kanifing Municipality, his arguments stood out for their depth and clarity, earning him the top honour in a fiercely contested debate session.
The award reflects NAYCONF’s commitment to fostering youth empowerment, dialogue, and inclusivity.
It also highlights the importance of debate as a platform for young people to express their ideas and advocate for transformative solutions.
Kanifing Municipality celebrates this remarkable achievement, and Muhammed Bah’s victory serves as an inspiration to young people across the nation to continue pursuing excellence and championing meaningful conversations for a better future.
Meanwhile, Advocacy and Campaign Officer Satang Dumbuya engaged with young people in a panel discussion at the National Youth Conference and Festival organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports through the National Youth Council.
Her discussions were centred around understanding GBV and the role of Network against Gender Based Violence in addressing GBV issues in The Gambia.
