Coach Tapha Manneh was speaking to journalists shortly after his side’s 1-1 draw against RS Tallinding FC in their week-four fixture of the 2023-2024 Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Division Two League played at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium on Tuesday.
Serrekunda FC opened the scoring through Pa Sorrie Sillah in the 33nd minute of the match.
Skipper Modou Lamin Darboe levelled matters for RS Tallinding United in the 75th minute of the match from the penalty spot.
“Our main objective is to play good football and also gain promotion to the First Division League.
‘‘Qualifying the team to the topflight will be good for the team to develop and market players.
‘‘We are prepared to go to the First Division League, so that we can keep some of the players in the team,” said Coach Tapha Manneh.
“This is a new team and I cannot blame most of the players because they don’t have the basics which are affecting us.
‘‘I don’t have much time with the team.
‘‘I only have one week with them.
‘‘There will be a difference when I have a lot of time with the team during the season,’’ Coach Tapha Manneh said.
He observed that one of the things missing during the game was his players were not too patient, which made things very difficult for them to hold the ball.
“We have work to do and with little experience, we want to share it with the young players by teaching them the basics,” Coach Tapha Manneh said.
Meanwhile, RS Tallinding United still sit 2nd place on the country’s Second Tier table with 8 points after winning two matches and drawing two.
Serrekunda FC now sit 10th place on the Second Division League table with 3 points after drawing three matches and losing one.
