The Gambia Football  Federation has joined counterparts from across Africa at the Confederation of African Football’s Club Licensing and Stadia workshop held on Tuesday 29th September 2020 on virtual session for all Member Associations.

The day’s workshop covered areas such as Deadline for submission of Club licensing decisions, club licensing online platform update, regulations, CAF Stadium inspection, management and league status of member Associations.

The GFF was represented by its General Secretary Lamin M Jassey, Competitions Director Baboucarr Jobe and IT and Club Licensing Manager Omar Touray.

The objectives of the Club Licensing program were defined by FIFA during its Congress held in Munich in 2006 where the Executive Committee adopted the FIFA Club Licensing Regulations on 29 October 2007 and it came into force on 1 January 2008.The CAF Club Licensing Regulations were approved on 19 January 2012, and came into force effective 1 March 2012. The full implementation of the Licensing regulations came into force during the 2017 CAF Inter-clubs Competitions Season.

According to CAF, all Member Associations must respect the implementation of the Club Licensing Procedure and thus the GFF since the adoption of the license program by CAF has enforced the regulation within League clubs in the Gambia and thus prides itself for its recognition by CAF as one of out of many MAs across Africa for adhering to the regulations.
