1st Division League winner to pocket D1M

The winner of the 2022-2023 Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Division One League competition will receive D1, 000, 000, according to news reaching Point Sports Desk.
Mr. Bajo and Jassey joined colleagues from all the 211 Member Associations of FIFA via Video Conference to discuss on the global game presided over by President Gianni Infantino who addressed the delegates from Zurich.
A minute silence was observed for fallen members of the football family notably Alh Ousman B Conateh (Fisco), Momodou Njie ( Biri Biri), Peter Bornu Johnson, Papa Sarr Corr and George F Gomez.
Meeting online during the global pandemic for the first time, President Infantino restated FIFA’s support for the football community. He lauded FIFA for the decision to make up to USD 1.5 billion, largely funded from the organization’s solid financial reserves, in order to support the MAs through the FIFA Covid-19 Relief Plan which already has seen over 150 MAs submit funding applications:
Addressing member association Presidents and delegates in every time zone, President Infantino contrasted the “credible, trustworthy, modern, professional and accountable new FIFA with the organization that was mired in a toxic corruption crisis in 2015 “.
On the importance of cooperation, President Infantino referred to FIFA’s freshly signed MoU with the United Nations to combat match-fixing, corruption and child abuse. He further highlighted football’s power as a force for good in society, and praised the unprecedented move by Qatar to improve workers’ rights.
The virtual meeting voted amongst others to approve two sets of regulatory amendments. In line with the new global situation, the FIFA Statutes and the Standing Orders of the Congress were amended to allow future FIFA Congress meetings to be held remotely.
The next FIFA Congress is schedule to take place in Tokyo, Japan 2021.
