This followed the club’s appeal against the decision of the
Oorgamising Committee in their protest in the second division promotion playoffs against Sibanor United.
The Committee met over the matter last week and, following deliberations, concluded that, having gone through the evidence provided by the West Coast Regional Football Association and Sibanor United, the concerned players are indeed bona-fide players of Sibanor and were eligible to participate in the said match.
The Committee found Sibanor United not culpable of breaking any GFF rules concerning its competitions and thus, cannot be held liable for the administrative error.
“The Committee also observed that the Match Commissioner is a representative of the governing body at the said match and amongst his responsibilities include ensuring fair play, supervising match operations, managing the venue, handling team and official interactions, reporting incidents, and ensuring compliance with the regulations of football.
The Match Commissioner, being the representative of the GFF at the said match, having gone through the observations raised by Sibanor United, agreed that the failure to print the omitted four players’ names on the match form was not the responsibility of Sibanor United Football Club, since they had duly registered the said players.
Thus, the administrative error cannot definitely be the fault of Sibanor United, and that the Match Commissioner, having allowed the said players to play, cannot also be the fault of Sibanor United,” the Committee announced in its ruling.
The Committee added that it reached this conclusion, having reviewed all documents related to the matter, including the master lists and several match forms from the West Coast Regional Third Division League.
