Gambian Boxer Omar Kinteh recieves rousing welcome at Banjul int'l Airport

A renowned Gambian professional Boxer, Omar Kinteh alias as Ochoo over the weekend recieved a rousing welcome at the Banjul International Airport upon his arrival from his based in Zurich, Switzerland after many years in abroad.

Speaking to journalists after his arrival, Kinteh, expressed delight for coming back to The Gambia after eight years.

"No matter where I go in this world, I carry The Gambia with pride.”

“It’s in my heart and it’s in my blood," Kinteh explained.

Kinteh disclosed that he has been fighting professionally in Muay Thai for the past four years.

He further disclosed that he started with nothing but hunger, discipline and heart.

Kinteh revealed that he has no shortcut, no excuses on work, pain, growth and belief.

"Through struggle and sacrifice, I’ve worked my way up.”

“ Today, I compete internationally, train with world-class fighters and fight on big stages.”

“Trust me, this is the beginning," Kinteh said.

He further disclosed that he had trained at Dado GYM in Zurich, adding he spent lot of time in Thailand and prepared himsel for fights.

"I’ve already fought twice in one Championship, the biggest combat sports organisation in the world.”

“It was a huge honour, and I’m grateful for every opportunity," Kinteh posited.

Kinteh thanked family, friends, GYM, and everyone in Switzerland.

He expressed appreciation to Gambians for rallying behind him.

 "I need more support from my people. We need unity and pride. We need to uplift each other," Kinteh said.

Kinteh stated that his biggest dream is to open a Muay Thai GYM in The Gambia.

He further stated that Muay Thai would give youth an opportunity, vision and clear path.

Kinteh further stated that he would empower Gambian Muay Thai community and put them on the international map.

"I have talent,  strength and heart. I relied on my faith. Without Allah, I am nothing," Kinted pointed out.

Kinteh noted that his belief gave him patience, strength and peace in the ring and life.

"When I fight, I don’t fight for myself. I fight for my family. I fight for my community and The Gambia," Kinteh explained.

Meanwhile, the 23-year contested in 19 professional fights, winning sixteen, drawing one and losing two.
