The Young Scorpions missed the chance to snatch a place in the continent’s biennial cadet biggest football showpiece after slipping to Sierra Leone 3-0 in their semi-final clash.
The Gambia thrashed Guinea Conakry 3-0 in their third-place play-off match played at the Samuel K Doe Sports Stadium on Saturday to secure bronze medals.
It could be recalled that the Young Scorpions finished as runners-up in the 2023 Total Energies Africa U-20 Cup of Nations after losing to Senegal U-20 team 2-0 in a final played at the Cairo International Stadium in Egypt.
The Gambia were eliminated in the round of sixteen (16) of the FIFA U-20 World Cup after slipping to Uruguay 1-0.
